The study of migration has been conducted from different perspectives, mostly economic and social. This research explored the "motivations" that lead young people from the community of Villa Insurgentes in the municipality of Sombrerete in the state of Zacatecas, Mexico, to migrate to the United States. For this purpose, a historical analysis of the phenomenon of international migration was carried out, followed by national migration and finally locally. As part of the methodology, a documentary review was made of the theories of motivation and the evolution of this concept from different approaches and moments. In the next stage, a survey was conducted consisting of interviews with key figures on the topic in question. The youth population of the locality where the study was conducted was also interviewed. With the data obtained, the information was analyzed and organized, and it was determined that the main motivation of young people to emigrate is economic, since in the socialimaginary a job abroad represents the way to achieve a better quality of life.
