India has one of the world's most diverse and complex migration histories. At present India is the world's leading receiver of remittances which strengthens the financial and human capital flows. The role of international migration and foreign remittances in the country of the state of Kerala in India is widely acknowledged. The foreign remittance stays always as the "backbone" of the economy of Kerala state. Malappuram district also has a diverse and complex migration history. The study report shows that the Malappuram district has been a major region that supplies the largest number of emigrants from Kerala.
