Mikey Finds Her Faith is the second book in a three-book series. Mikey--the main character--is a spunky and lively second grader who loves all things purple! (Mikey is short for Mikelle, which means "gift from God.") She lives with her little brother, Levi, their parents, and Grandma Frances. As Mikey deals with issues in life, such as confidence and having faith, Grandma Frances is her voice of reason. The character of Grandma Frances is modeled after the author's own maternal grandmother, who died in the mid 90s. Levi, Mikey's little brother, is modeled after the author's nine year old son, Jace. Both boys are on the autism spectrum and share lovable and comical personalities. Both the author and Mikey share a love of purple and have bright, toothy smiles. In this particular book, the family dog - - Kitty - - is sick. Mikey and Levi are terribly worried. Grandma Frances tells them about the power of prayer and their need to have faith in God's awesomeness. This book encourages children, as well as adults, to not despair, but rather to trust God. The books in the Mikey series are targeted towards pre-kindergarten to upper elementary children. And it is the author's hope and prayer that the series becomes a family favorite!Hinweis: Dieser Artikel kann nur an eine deutsche Lieferadresse ausgeliefert werden.
A North Carolina native, Jessica L. Roberts, has written several Christian children's books. The mother of a nine-year-old, Jessica was inspired to write Christian-based children's literature years ago after having difficulty in finding such books for her son, Jace. Jessica earned her undergraduate degree--bachelor of science in middle grades education -- at UNC Greensboro. She then went on to earn two graduate degrees - - one in reading education and another in higher education teaching. She taught middle school social studies and language arts for 10 years before having her son. Having worked with a number of children at the middle school level that lacked the foundation of strong reading proficiency, Jessica is passionate about providing quality reading materials to children early in life. Success in life starts with a solid literacy foundation, and Jessica hopes to help as many children as possible to become strong readers, and, ultimately, accomplished and successful adults. In her free time, Jessica enjoys spending time with her family, watching crime shows and action movies, and reading. Some of her favorite authors include RL Stine, KL Slater, Dr. Seuss, Maya Angelou, and Sharon Draper - - just to name a few!
