With a BA and a Licentiate in History from the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), the author is currently studying for his Masters in Social History of Culture at the State University of Campinas (UNICAMP), specialising in the area of Social History. His research interests are land conflicts and the land question in 19th century Brazil.
