Miller Homes is a community housing development known for warehousing low-income people. There, trouble always seems to be brewing. Gangs fight over this territory while residents are calling on city officials to take action to bring peace to the community. Among the residents of Miller Homes is Bertha, a woman in her early thirties who has been forced to live in the development due to her inability to find a job that pays well enough to allow her to move up in the world. She is also an activist for the community, crusading to make Miller Homes a better and safer place to live. Meanwhile, fourteen-year-old Breeze knows that selling drugs is the only way for him to make real money. He's been hanging around Miller's parking lots for years and is a product of that environment. And then there's Flash, an outspoken gang leader who has no fear of anyone and is used to getting his way. Fate sets the three of them on a collision course as they face the trials and realities of living in the projects. This novel is typical of some project communities in today's societies where people living in dangerous housing developments do what they must to survive.
