Match play is golf's ultimate mind game. Pitting golfer against golfer in a format where raw scores are irrelevant, match play is inherently different from stroke play, so it calls for a different mentality. Learn all about match play - this is for both the experienced single figure golfer and the less experienced golfer playing match play for the first time. You will learn how it is played, some of the rules and etiquette, scoring and terminology used, how and when to make concessions, how to make the best use of your caddie, how to form a game plan and create a check list. Learn how to prepare mentally and enjoy the game more than you ever had. Discover how to deal with adversity and success and learn how to maximise your opportunities and win more matches. While the book's content is appropriate for anyone who competes in match play, including club championship and knockout events, it is particularly aimed at current and potential participants in the widely popular Pennant competition. Here golfers are given the opportunity to play as part of a group, pitting club teams against one another, with winners advancing to regional and state competition. Male and female amateurs of all handicap levels take part in these fun and often highly competitive events. Whatever form of match play you'll be playing, I'm sure you will find plenty of helpful advice in the following pages.
Autorenporträt
I am a professional coach, author, lecturer and speaker in the areas of work/life balance, stress management and golf psychology. I have a wealth of knowledge and communication skills acquired through teaching Physical Education, Health and Personal Development to adults and children across the full range of public and private sectors. I hold a Masters Degree in Education majoring in Exercise Physiology and have completed a Professional Development Certificate in Coaching at the University of Sydney. I am a Professional Certified Coach with the internationally recognised and highly respected International Coach Federation (ICF) of which I am also the Immediate Past President Australasia and was named the 2009 ICF Coach of the Year. My particular area of interest is assisting individuals to reach their full potential. I have a long association with sport; I previously taught physical education at several major high schools over 15 years and currently lecture and tutor at University in the area of Sports Science where I have been involved for the past 20 years. I have coached many teams and individuals in a range of sporting disciplines to personal best performances including grand final wins. I took up golf as an interest in 1998 and became the 2005 Ladies Club Champion at my local golf club, placed 5th in the 2006 NSW Champion of Champions Nett Event, and in the top 20 of the 2007 NSW Golf Medal Play Off Event. I won the Ladies Club Championship again in 2013 after a long hiatus due to work. I found that by applying the psychology I was using with my business clients in the golfing arena, I was able to not only bring my own handicap down but could pass the benefit of my knowledge and its application onto those who play with me.By applying the long-proven coaching methods I use to the psyche of golf and golfers, I have been able to calm the "golf gremlin within" and assist them in dropping their handicap and enjoying their golf more than ever. More recently I have created photographic presentations of some of the more basic aspects of golf. Using my interactive and engaging speaking style I am able to bring new information to golfers in an easy to understand, enjoyable and memorable way. I gain a great deal of satisfaction as I see improvements in both handicaps and the player's level of enjoyment. I am inspired by the people that I coach and love to hear it when they in turn say they are inspired by me.
