Inspiration behind this work is the composer's first encounter with GUO bass flute and its particular, distinct, rich tones. During the past years Janis Lusens has enthusiastically collected various musical instruments and sought after their common and innovative sound. Several of musical themes discovered during such interpretations have resulted in these notes. As the GUO flute's sound is tender, the main tone of the miniatures is peaceful and flowing, with playful elements, creating a delicate match with upper and medium registers of the piano. This work can serve as practice material for music schools and conservatories, as well as an addition to the repertoire of any professional flautist. Miniatures are suitable for both traditional and bass flute. All miniatures are available for listening on the composer's and publisher's websites.
