MISFIRE Because, dealing with dementia can be absolutely terrifying. Do you know someone with Alzheimer's Disease? Parkinson's Disease? Lewy Body Dementia? MISFIRE combines compassion and a powerful, yet brief narrative that offers real-world suggestions and options for families and caregivers. 47 million people are losing their minds as you read these words. In 10 years, that number sky-rockets to 75 million. The World Health Organization says, "the majority of care" is provided by family members. If you are a caregiver dealing with the guilt, fear, and frustration that accompany all stages of these insidious diseases, this trim 60-page book is a must-read because you are not alone. Dementia is now the 7th leading cause of death worldwide. Memory loss, hallucinations, tremors, and irrational behavior are among the wide range of symptoms experienced by those suffering from the many forms of dementia. Authors Dawna Cappello and Susan Heller want caregivers to know there are choices and options, tools and information that can help preclude the caregiving mistakes one family made. MISFIRE is a courageous outreach and a modern-day cautionary tale that sheds light on the hidden shame and trauma of dementia; offering instead deep understanding of why among other insights "Breaking Your Promise" is often not only the right thing, but the ethical thing to do.
Autorenporträt
Dawna Cappello has degrees in both business and psychology. She has been a successful Healthy Eating Coach for over seven years and worked as a Recreational Therapist and cognitive program trainer at an Alzheimer's Resource Center. Dawna spent nine years taking care of her father-in-law who suffered from multiple causes of dementia which inspired her to also become credentialed as a dementia specialist. "Susan Heller is a top-flight Director and Producer," according to Kevin Hinchey, Writer/Director of the documentary; Love, Work, and Knowledge - The Life and Trials of Wilhelm Reich. "And she's a superior writer. Susan loves language and all of its possibilities. She's excellent and versatile at writing for whatever format, voice, and purpose is required. For all these reasons, I hired Susan as a Creative Consultant on my film. "She is not only one of the most talented and creative people I know, more importantly, Susan is one of the most effective writers I know because of her empathy. That trait also makes her an outstanding acting coach and is another reason why everyone she works with--film crews, co-authors, corporate clients, magazines, and media outlets--appreciate her professionalism, kindness, and sense of humor."
