This is Taren's first attempt at both writing and illustrating a children's book. Growing up in an artistic family in south Minneapolis, Mn, Taren was always encouraged to experiment in new art forms and creative expression by her parents. She spent the majority of high school in art classes but further education led her into horticulture and then into landscape design. Never taking a break from art, she experimented in many mediums throughout her life; macrame', weaving, sewing, tie-dye, paper mâché, mosaics, alcohol ink, refurbishing furniture, construction, clay, card making, painting, cement forming, wire working, jewelry, etc. You name it, Taren has probably got supplies for that in her home studio. Teaching classes in mosaics, weaving and alcohol ink started in 2017. A love for paper dolls began early when her grandmothers kept her and her sister well stocked in a design-your-own type of paper doll. Growing up in the 60's brought creative play both outside and indoors and Taren feels that may be lacking in children's lives these days and hopes to add a little with this book. Now that Taren has young grandchildren, she wants to share her artistic abilities with them, and has planned a series of educational art stories dedicated to the young artists. Taren resides in northern Minnesota with her husband Robbie and dog Eider.
