After over 5 years of legal and procedural debates it was announced by Missouri Governor Jay Nixon on February 4, 2010 that Union Pacific Railroad was giving the bridge to the City of Boonville which plans to incorporate it into the Katy Trail which is a 225-mile bicycle trail.
