Autorenporträt
Heading into 2002, Jeff Parkin and Lynda Thompson did not know each other. One night in January of that year, their paths crossed in an Internet bingo room and a friendship was forged. During one of their many discussions on Instant Messenger, Jeff learned that Lynda, now 38 and living in London, Ontario Canada, had a dream of writing a book about her trials and tribulations involving her son Mitchell, who was born with cerebral palsy. Jeff, 46, who lives in a small town in Northwestern Pennsylvania and had for many years wrote sports articles for a local newspaper, offered to help Lynda transform her dream into reality. Thus began the many nightly sessions on Yahoo Messenger, in which Jeff would record all the information that Lynda had to offer for her book. Jeff then took these notes and transformed them into the touching tale you will read inside this cover. Also helping to complete this project was Lynda's husband Grant, who helped fill in many of the missing blanks. Despite the obvious difficulties with life facing their only son, Lynda and Grant have proven to be a role model for many of the parents of special needs children. Inside is their story. It is a touching one. We hope you enjoy it as much as we did putting it together.
