A brief discussion about the cushioning behavior of Magneto-rheological (MR) damper operated with a mixed working modes. A combination of shear and squeeze modes is employed in the MR damper to obtain the normal yield stress of MR damper as well as strengthen the squeeze effect. The experimental evaluation shows that when the piston is closing to the bottom part of the cylinder, the sudden increase of squeeze force is observed confirming the existence of the cushion effect.
