The numerical modeling of mixing indicate that turbulence plays a small role in mixing production. The current regime along the Egyptian Mediterranean coast has been investigated by two methods; the analysis of current measurements, and numerical simulation by using Princeton Ocean Model (POM). The analysis of current measurements showed that the magnitude and direction of the current changes continuously, however, the general pattern is an eastern to south eastern flow induced by the prevailing north-west wind, with a magnitude generally less than 20 cm/s. The numerical modeling of surface currents induced by wind stress over the sea surface, and density distribution revealed a similar patter.
