When David and the others composed Tehillim, it seems they also joined their hearts and minds to find the words. They were written in times of trouble and in times of joy. How does one join their heart and mind to achieve kavanah?Perhpas one needs to understand the words and their meaning. This is difficult. Tehillim are poems with at least three themes; beginning, a middle and an end. Each theme could have two or more sentences that flow from one idea to another. It seems the authors focused on five themes. Hashem, please let me sing your praises with the congregation. Hashem, please heal me from my illness so I may praise you. Hashem, please save me from my enemies. Hashem, please help me defeat my enemies. Events in the Torah; redemption from Mitzraim, the defeat of their enemies, inheriting the land, the flood. The book was written to introduce these themes to the reader. Each theme is separated into sections to detail the themes. The translation is in the same order as the Hebrew to facilitate understanding each word.
