The transportation problem is one of the subclass of the linear programming problems for which simple and practical computational procedures have been developed that take the advantage of the special structure of the problem. The transportation theory is a name given to the study of optimal transportation and allocation of resources. This book is devoted to discuss some variants of the transportation problem. Constrained transportation problem is presented along with the variants of the transportation problem dealing with the mixed constraints, time minimization and bi-criteria objective function. This book is divided in to five chapters. Each chapter contains complete theory and a fairly large number of solved examples.
