This paper has attempted to draw some attention upon the problem of modern techniques in the evaluation of writing skills.The reason I have chosen to tackle this aspect is the fact that lately there has been real emphasis on this functional and communicative side of learning foreign languages in order to help Romanian students cope with any situation in which speaking and writing in a foreign language is required: the chance to sit for some important exams, working abroad and why not when using the Internet. The purpose of this paper is not that of scanning the most efficient evaluation methods, but that of aiming to be a useful and practical guide in adjusting the different modern evaluation methods and techniques to our students motivation and needs.

Mrs.Monica Raducan is currently a teacher of English language and she completed her Masters Degree in Translation and Interpretation in 2003. She has focussed her interests in enhancing the quality of English language teaching process for elementary to upper-intermediate school students.
