An absolute dosage regimen used in the treatment of any disease is the one which are instantly reach the desired therapeutic concentration of drug in plasma. Generally, after administration of drug, the rate of complete release of drug is very rapid as well as immediate in case of the conventional drug therapy. Absorption of drug is the rate limiting step in conventional drug delivery system. The frequency of administration of drug as well as the interval of dosing is mainly dependent on its half-life of drug and it is also dependent on its residence mean time. There are various number of limitations are involved during conventional dosage forms because the dose interval is much shorter than half-life of the drug. To overcome such limitation involves with the conventional dosage forms, there is important to develop a non-conventional dosage form i.e. modified release dosage forms. Extensive literature survey revealed that researchers are now concentrating on the natural polymers as drug release controlling agent and extensive research works are going on to modify the same through grafting technology in order to overcome the drawback of the natural polymer.
