Enamel defects may be due to hereditary, acquired, systemic or local factors. If any unbalance occur during maturation phase of enamel formation, it is called as hypomineralization. It is a deficiency in the mineralization process of permanent first molars and less frequently incisors. Although the reason is not completely known, it is thought to occur as a result of multifactorial reasons during the child's prenatal term.
