Dr Sushant Bhat was born in Noorpora-Tral, district Pulwama, Srinagar, J&K state. He graduated in 2009 from G.A.D.V.A.S.U Ludhiana, Punjab and completed masters degree (M.V.Sc) in Veterinary Immunology from Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar in 2011.
