This book deals with the taxonomical studies including morphology, leaf epidermal anatomy and pollen and palynology of the grasses (monocots) of Thar desert of Sind, Pakistan. The study has conducted on 39 species belonging to 56 genera of 8 tribes in 4 subfamilies of Poaceae from District Tharparkar. The objective of the study was to identify and classify the plants on the basis of systematic studies and to study the intraspecific, intrageneric and intergeneric relationships among species of different genera and tribes.

Barkat Ali est titulaire d'une maîtrise en microbiologie et immunologie cliniques. Il a grandi à Shukhdara Matta, une région bien développée du KPK. Barkat poursuit actuellement un doctorat en microbiologie à l'université de Swat, au KPK. Il a contribué au domaine avec une publication internationale et a également présenté trois affiches.
