Having learned how to be an artist, Gustave Droz first showed his work in public in Paris at the Salon of 1857. In 1884, he wrote Tristesses et Sourires, a sensitive look at the good and bad parts of family life. Papa, Mamma, and Baby (1887) was the name of Droz's first book that in English.
