moral education approaches from the perspective of a
satisfactory answer to the modern predicament?
The book advocates a dynamic understanding of the
predicament that conceives it as the result of
conflicting goods that are all important for human
flourishing. Thus, the work argues that although the
most influential approaches to moral education today
(Values Clarification, Character Education,
Kohlberg''s and Caring) suppose a stance
over the modern predicament, their answers are
unsatisfactory in a problematic way. Finally, the
book establishes the general conditions under which
moral education can satisfactorily address the
implications of the modern predicament so we can
find an acceptable answer to our contemporary
temper; a temper that highly values personal freedom
and also yearns for a sense of belonging.
