Art is one of the early symbol systems for young children, and is a crucial tool for helping them learn about their environment and their ideas and feelings. The latest in a series of discovery and activity books, More Than Painting contains over 100 activities designed to open children's minds to the wonderful world of art. A guide to providing interesting, open-minded materials and the time needed to work on creative play, More Than Painting will provide endless variety for art activities in the classroom. Chapters address how to talk with children about their art, how teachers can recognize the stages in a child's artistic development, and how they can discuss ideas with peers to provide even more possibilities in their art curriculum. Focusing on the process of art-making rather than the product, More than Painting is the guide for developing an art curriculum in your classroom.
