This book presents an investigation of mothers' decision-making about their careers. Decision-making was found to be complex and recurring. A matrix was developed that includes four perspectives (personal, familial, workplace, and societal) and six factors (expectation and responsibility, support, motivation, flexibility, conflict, and life balance) that influence decision-making. Mothers may be supported in returning to their careers by allowing them time to experience the effects of their decisions and accepting the decisions will be made and re-made as circumstances change.
