The present one has the purpose of establishing the application of the motivation and its strategies of learning to improve the reading comprehension in the students, which was used a descriptive design with a sample of 29 students of second grade of primary level of the educational institution Nº 40702 Alberto Benavides de la Quintana District of Orcopampa, Castilla - Arequipa, to which the instruments of evaluation were applied to them.The analyses to which these instruments were submitted determined consistent levels of validity and reliability.The results indicate that there are significant and positive correlations between learning strategies and motivation for study and reading comprehension in this sample of students.On the other hand, it is of importance the role of the different learning strategies that are applied, which have as a challenging goal in the educational process that learning is able to act in an autonomous and self-regulated way, as well as considering the issue of strategies for classroom management a basic aspect in the teaching performance, and a means to reach the desired quality education.
