Motivation is a set of dynamic factors that determine an individual's behavior. Several studies have shown that motivation is a major risk factor for dropping out of school. Unfortunately, in Togo, this relationship is poorly understood. The aim of this study is to identify the relationship between motivation to succeed at school and the risk of dropping out among senior high school students. Questionnaires adapted to Togolese realities, such as the QMF by Gbati and Forner (2005) and the Questionnaire de dépistage des élèves à risque de décrochage by Potvin et al. (2007), were used for this purpose on 421 students.Analyses of variance showed a significant difference between motivation for academic success, PSC and risk of dropping out. Similarly, there was a significant difference between gender, age, number of repeat years and risk of dropping out of school.
