Reading newspaper informs readers' as well as enhances the readers' literacy skills. Therefore, the newspaper serves as a tool for learning especially among communication students. However, newspaper readership among students in Nigeria has been an issue of concern. The study aimed to unveil determinants and challenges of reading of hard copies of Nigerian newspapers among Universities students in Kwara State. The populations of this study are undergraduates' students of University of Ilorin, Kwara State University, Malete, Kwara State Polytechnic, Oyun and Kwara State College of Education, Ilorin. This study employed a simple random sampling technique. Respondents were selected purposively if they have read a hard copy newspaper before, bought a newspaper or they accessed a newspaper to find detail of a story. A total of 398 questionnaires were distributed and 385 were properly filled and returned therefore, a total of 385 valid questionnaires were used to answer research questions. It was discovered that majority of the university students in Kwara State read hard copy newspaper to search for information, sport stories and feature news.
