In this newest book, Mountains To Climb: Lisa And Down Syndrome Challenges, Angee Barcus shares many detailed experiences about Lisa. With encouragement from others, Angee has fulfilled a personal goal of sharing with others what she has learned about raising a child with Down syndrome. There are accounts of Lisa's adult years and the many challenges she has had to face. Lisa's health issues and revelations about the unexpected and unfamiliar medical problems that Lisa has experienced are also included. You will read some heartwarming and emotional stories about Lisa and her personal life that include her dating, having outside interests in the community and finding that one special partner. In sharing this third book with others, Angee recounts some of the necessary resources that were utilized to help Lisa with her medical and financial needs. Local, state and national programs are mentioned, giving general information that will help others as they weave through maze of confusion in the quest to get services. Angee's belief is that others will benefit from what she has shared about Lisa's experiences and she hopes that she has made a difference in the lives of other people who are traveling the same road.
Autorenporträt
Angee Barcus is a wife, mother and writer. She loves to read, and writing helps her to sort out issues that might otherwise fester and linger. She is grateful for the opportunity to share her experiences. For Angee, writing and sharing are tools to help others. Angee wrote a newspaper column for almost two years and enlightened others about disability issues in and around where she lived, alternating those articles with short stories about Lisa. Her nursing career allowed her to work in a school system, helping young children with developmental disabilities. This gave Angee another viewpoint about children with disabilities, which helped her when writing about Lisa. Angee has written two other books, Snapshots Of Lisa: A Candid Look At Down Syndrome And Snippets Of Lisa's Life and Loving And Learning: Life With Lisa And Down Syndrome. They also relate to Lisa's life starting from birth up to her high school years. Now that the three books are in print, Angee will enjoy playing the piano and the accordion more often, as well as trying to finish a few quilting and sewing projects.
