Autorenporträt
Dr. Jytte Fogh Lokvig is a nationally recognized dementia specialist with more than a quarter-century of experience working with people living with neurocognitive degeneration, as well as families, caregivers, and care facilities. When an individual is living with dementia, family and friends are affected as well. Jytte's guidance helps everyone improve their lives by introducing them to the essentials in communication and effective approaches. Lokvig works with care facilities, home care agencies and other organizations involved with people with dementia. She trains staff in dementia basics and uses her extensive experience in the arts and education to design programs that engage people in creative, stimulating, and enjoyable explorations, regardless of the severity of their dementia. Dr. Lokvig works with local and international groups dedicated to progressive approaches to how we support our fellow beings living with cognitive impairment. One important component in this effort is the Alzheimer's (and Memory) Café movement. Dr. Lokvig started the first Alzheimer's Café in North America in 2008 and maintains the national registry of cafés, numbering over 300 at the time of this writing.
