In 1925 Europe, while on a routine tour, a tall, handsome, and mysterious musician by the name of Hamilton Kendricks is walking to a bistro in Paris for a quiet lunch when he accidentally meets Catherine Baines. Or was it an accident? Catherine, a shy heiress with a talent for seduction, had decided to travel to Europe on an impulse to contemplate her future. Although society dictates that at her age, she should already be married with children, times were changing, and she wanted to change with them. A quick and strong love developed between Catherine and Hamilton, followed by a quick marriage--a marriage that was not meant to last. Death, murder, and betrayal, rather than music, would consume their years together, resulting in an innocent child losing a parent. Within the first few years of marriage, a son would bless their union; however, Catherine would simultaneously learn just how mysterious Hamilton truly was. While she wished his secret had stayed buried, she learned how to live with it and thought that they could live happily ever after. In 1930, that would all change. They had survived the stock market crash in 1929, with Hamilton's musical career at its peak, but love did not conquer all.
