The deplorable state of English language performances at internal and external examinations has been a source of national concern in the recent years. This individual and national concern in education stems from the fact that English is the language of education, the nation's official language and it is virtually a requirement for any academic advancement after secondary education. This study is necessitated by the fact that effective mastery and high proficiency in the language of education will trigger a corresponding mastery in the content areas of specialization. The findings of this research together with the remedial profile and a path analysis will to a great extent assists in achieving high degree of success in the teaching and learning of English language.
