This book presents the modeling and control of NPC-type multilevel inverters dedicated to photovoltaic converters. In this context, the first part discusses generalities on the evolution of solar photovoltaic energy. This part is followed by the exploration of different PV conversion structures with emphasis on the integration of NPC-type multilevel inverters in these structures. The second part is devoted to the modeling and control of 3 and 5 level NPC inverters operating in stand-alone mode. This part began with the implementation of a conversion system based on the 3-level NPC inverter controlled by different methods of vector modulation. A series of numerical and experimental tests is started showing the efficiency of the developed vector modulation approaches. Then, the modeling and control of the 5-level NPC inverter by two different approaches of vector modulation were carried out and their efficiency was proved.
