This research provides a new insight into the diagnostic utility of multidetector computed tomography for patients at different clinical stages of biliary atresia. In addition, it highlights the role of MDCT in the diagnosis of early biliary atresia and its associated congenital anomalies. The role of MDCT and ultrasound was compared to identify the superiority of MDCT over ultrasound in patients with biliary atresia. The role of MDCT as a non-invasive tool to diagnose varices in comparison with endoscopy was also validated.
