This thesis reviews the important characteristics ofmultimedia elements and combinations as a learningmaterial conveyance tool. An exploratory observationis conducted to ascertain how multimedia and itselements are used to deliver a selected group oflearning materials. A triangulated study is thenconducted to investigate the effectiveness ofmultimedia combinations in promoting learning. Tonumerically represent the comparison of multimediaelements and combination effectiveness, a multiplegroup post test only experiment is conducted. Aninterpretive study approach is used to gatherinsights on the issue that could not be representedby numerical data. This approach uses open-endedquestionnaires distributed to a selection ofidentified field experts. Finally, a thematic contentanalysis of computer aided learning evaluation rubricdocuments is conducted to unobtrusively measure thepertinent indicators of effectiveness. The findingsof this research provide further insights onmultimedia usage and effectiveness in computer-aidedlearning, and should be useful to practitioners andresearchers in Multimedia Learning fields.
