The purpose of this book is to assess the significance of the language lab as an effective instructional tool. It starts with the importance of learner motivation, goes on to trace the beginnings of the language lab, reasons for its failure and the revival with a reorientation in the form of multimedia language labs. It further elaborates on how multimedia language labs effectively motivate the second language learners to learn English Language in a non-threatening manner.
