Fibromyalgia (FM) is defined as widespread chronic pain for more than three months and the presence of tender points in all the four quadrants of the body. Chronic pain in FM is of muscle origin, in a constant state of pain; pain does no longer fulfill a protective function but represents a pathological condition with devastating effects on quality of life. Several researchers demonstrated the personal effects of their therapeutic techniques. Till now, there is no single treatment which provides a complete cure of FM patients. Each patient has a different constellation of symptoms resulting in different responses to therapeutic interventions. A specific intervention will not work for every patient. However, to fulfill the dearth of research for effective management an interdisciplinary approach is necessary to resolve the widespread musculoskeletal pain sensitivity, psychosocial environment and quality of life.
