This work was developed with the aim of analysing how music influences individuals. And how today music has been used to propagate sexist concepts that trivialise and vulgarise the role of women and proclaim prejudiced and disrespectful ideas, diminishing the role of women and their social importance. This encourages violence and the idealisation of a distorted image of gender. A bibliographical review of the subject was carried out and young people of both sexes aged between eighteen and twenty-five were interviewed. A number of excerpts were chosen from today's popular music, and a study was carried out on the messages presented in the songs and how these messages resonate in society. The research used an analytical-behavioural and psychoanalytical framework, on the basis that these are the most commonly recognised and used approaches in the field of psychology. Through these frameworks, a correlation was established between the two approaches through music, which proved to be widely present and relevant in these theories.
