This work contemplates music as a socially inscribed element, focusing on the history of the clarinet and the music band in Brazil, considering them as a convergent point of musical training and practice. It presents a brief exposition on the historical aspect of clarinet teaching in Brazil and on the origin of a pedagogical practice deeply marked by the social context. Within the universe in question, it was observed that the music band was a determining and favourable environment for the training and practice of clarinetists.
