J. Brian Brocklehurst graduated from Nottingham University. He held a commission in the R. A. F. Education Branch, taught at schools in Nottingham and lectured in music to W.E.A. and University extramural classes. At the time of the first publication, he was Lecturer in Education in the University of Birmingham, where he was responsible for the post-graduate training of student-teachers of music.
