Autorenporträt
Tony Preedy was born in Hereford in January 1939 to shopkeeping parents and moved to Shropshire in 1944. His autism shaped his young life, causing him to enter Technical College; Tony then started studies towards becoming a Chartered Engineer whilst an apprentice with REME, then at Bristol Polytechnic and with the BBC, eventually being elected a Fellow of the Institution of Engineering and Technology. He has worked as a grocer's delivery boy, and later as an engineer in broadcasting, spending some time in an Arab country, and in law in the USA. Tony married Jean, a designer of soft toys, whilst living on Ascension Island; after retirement in 1999 they moved back to Shropshire. He enjoys sailing, restoring classic boats and vehicles, walking, and amateur radio; he has contributed to magazines for the radio industry, to the Technical Review of the European Broadcasting Union. Tony survives Jean, his wife of 52 years, and has two daughters.
