Growing up as a Jewish teenager as the Nazi state pursued him through Croatia, Andrew Duic survived as a result of his own resourcefulness and adaptability, and the good judgement and courage of his parents. His trenchant observations of the Communist post-war reconstruction, his emigration to Canada in the 1960s and his career as a paediatrician make for compelling reading.
