Young Toby was almost a teenager now and a keen fisherman. His granddad taught him to fish when he was just four years old. Both of them sat by the pond on the staging made of wooden slats that granddad had built. It was a holiday he loved, all he had was Granddad's special rods, a small stool and a box of flies - handmade and very colourful. Nan always gave him a large bottle of cold water to share with Sammy, the Labrador. Nan lived very close to the smelly pond, and the council was coming to empty the pond. The news was not what Toby wanted to hear. Toby's future would change forever, his life would never be the same again; Rosa, the ghost, would see to that.
Autorenporträt
The author was born in the Rossendale Valley, Lancashire, in 1939. She left school at the age of fifteen to work in the cotton mills, but then decided to move into the sewing trade. Maz got married at nineteen to a serviceman of the Royal Navy (22 years' service) who became an author and poet. They had five wonderful children. Years went by and they travelled most of Europe on a motorbike, three times across to Cyprus with all their camping gear strapped to the bike; great adventures. In 2016, the author broke her hip and shoulder, which slowly led to her writing this book. Sadly, during the process of the publishing of this book, her husband passed away.
