As she listened to the inspirational music, the Lord led her to write the words of My Chains Are Gone, His Mercy Reigns, and follow His will in her life. She continues to worship Him each day with the astounding Chris Tomlin songs. Christianne hopes that My Chains Are Gone, His Mercy Reigns will help others see the blessing that God bestows upon us and that they will draw closer to Him, listening to the calling of the songs that are quoted in each chapter. She continues to volunteer in her church, St. James UMC in Montgomery, Alabama. She has been a resident of Montgomery since beginning attendance at Huntingdon College in 1959. She and her husband, Lester, married after their sophomore year. She graduated in 1963 and taught English and French in the public school system. She became very interested in Special Education and earned a Master's Degree in Special Education and Administration at Auburn University Montgomery. Her later service in Montgomery Public Schools included working as a psychometrist, teaching special education, supervising special education teachers and serving as a principal. Final retirement in 2008 was difficult but she has enjoyed life since that time, focusing on God's purpose for her and spending time with her wonderful eight grandchildren and great grandchild.

Christianne Ashton Henderson "escaped" from her busy life as an educator when she retired for the third and final time on July 31, 2008. She had taught English, French, special education during her career. She had also served as a psychometrist, a principal and a special education supervisor. She had worked for the Montgomery Public School for more than 30 years. Christianne and her husband, Lester, were married for fifty-eight years before he went home to be with the Lord. They are blessed with four children, eight grandchildren and one great grandchild. "Escaping" from her "business as usual" has allowed her to spend more time with family and have time to write the words that God has spoken to her.
