Igraine Gray was born 22nd November 1993 in Huntingdon, Cambridgeshire whilst her parents were away from their East End home.Gray subsequently grew up on the Cranbrook Estate in Bethnal Green, East London alongside her three half-siblings. On the passing of both her paternal grandparents, and the loss of their Vallance Road home as an escape, she eventually ran away from home on her 16th birthday - starting a period of severe homelessness that would last the best part of a decade.Gray was a rough sleeper from 22nd November 2009 until 7th June 2018 bar a handful of stays in temporary accommodation. It was during this time that writing became her joy, as she sought refuge from her everyday life. She found stable housing in Middlesbrough before moving permanently to East Cleveland, North Yorkshire using the modest payment from her first poetry collection, Streetside.Since then she has written a number of well-received works, including the short story Hunger and various articles about homelessness, with My Demon is a Darling being her debut novel.
