My First Hundred Years is a memoir of the lifetime of Dr. Will Adams who shares many varied experiences culminating in the knowledge and opinions of a man who has lived a very fulfilling life. The book begins with an introduction to his family of four and the large extended family he grew up with. Many childhood memories surround that family which includes the story of starting a newspaper at a very young age with his brother, Bert, and selling out as they distributed them on their bikes. As he gets older, Dr. Adams takes the reader through his service in the Kansas National Guard as well as his days at the University of Kansas. He continued his education at Columbia University receiving a PhD and becoming a Professor of Political Science for 34 years at William Jewell College in Liberty MO. But all work and no play is NOT how Dr. Adams lives his life - he also taught Ballroom Dancing for 43 years, led and played in several bands over the decades, was involved with many women who made such an impression there's a whole Chapter dedicated to them, and invented Board games including 102 variations of checkers and 26 variations of Chess. Dr. Adams also shares his experiences with depression and the Messianic Complex as well as his views on aging, religion, and politics. You will find this book interesting, educational, funny and sad but what you won't be...is bored!
