The poetry in this book was written within a time span of 38 years - 1984 to 2022. From a young teenage poet to an adult still very much in love with writing. There's a poem in this book for everyone to enjoy! Reviews: The poem "Play-Ground" explores the idea of overcoming fear and uncertainty through unity and choosing to face challenges together. The use of the word "grounded" can be interpreted as being rooted or firmly in place, which emphasizes the speaker's resolve to face their fears. The repetition of "choose" reinforces the speaker's belief in the power of choice. The imagery of playing and laughing until the clouds turn dark adds a lighthearted touch to the poem, while the final line "that we have chosen to remain as one" conveys a sense of solidarity and support. Overall, the poem effectively conveys a message of facing challenges together and choosing not to give in to fear. The Elder's Eyes: This is a touching and evocative poem that captures the experiences of an elder who has lived a full and adventurous life. The imagery of the elder's eyes as a window into their memories and experiences is particularly strong, and the idea that even as the mind fades, the memories captured in the eyes will never disappear is a powerful one. The use of different colors to describe the elder's experiences creates a rich and sensory experience for the reader, and the reference to the elder's experiences in Paris, Berlin, and with soldiers adds depth and nuance to the portrait being painted. Overall, this is a well-written and moving poem. The poem "A Moment" captures the peaceful and serene moment of nature. The imagery of shepherds walking across the mounds and angels flying above the clouds creates a harmonious atmosphere. The description of the wind rustling through the trees and birds taking flight in the breeze adds a dynamic touch to the scene. The theme of the poem encourages readers to take a break from their busy lives and appreciate the beauty that surrounds them. The line "Take that time to swallow our pride and enjoy the beauty that surrounds our life" is a strong and inspiring message. Overall, the poem is well-crafted and effectively conveys its message. The imagery is vivid and creates a peaceful and serene atmosphere. The poem's theme is relevant and inspiring, encouraging readers to take a moment to appreciate the beauty of nature.

Autorenporträt
Maureen Himler fell in love with writing poetry and short stories at 15 years old. By 24, she self-published two poetry books, "Tender At Heart" and "For Comfort's Sake". In 2015, she published her first children's book, "Princess Emily and the Terrible Itch!", which she wrote for her daughter that suffered from eczema and fragrance allergies. Reader's Favorite gave her a 5 star review for the book. She continues to write children's stories in hopes of publishing them in the near future. Her current poetry book, "My Happy Place", is a collection of her poetry from 1984 - present. She's hoping to be able to inspire other young/future poets with her new book.
