As a mother of a child with Down syndrome I have always felt the need to tell my story. I strongly believe this story would not only help my family but other families as well. Most important of all, this story will help Joey, who is my youngest son and who is presently a sophomore in high school, find resources in the community that will help build and sustain his dignity throughout his life. His future will bring many highs and lows as it does for all of us. As his world seems safe at the moment, I know that it won't always stay that way. My mission is to identify and fully understand what is "out there" for Joey in order to make his life the best that it can be.
