I love my country and I loved being a soldier, perhaps my destiny as it was a family tradition. I guess patriotism took over. Sounds silly as a Canadian to use the word patriotism, as we in the north associate that more with our neighbors to the south. However, history has shown us that Canada has always fought when they needed to fight, and I have had the privilege of serving with some of those, who I believe to be the greatest soldiers our country has ever produced. They stood when it was time to stand, some making the ultimate sacrifice along the way, and some suffer even today with the physical scars and the non-physical ones. War or even peace comes at a great cost, and it is the soldier not the politician who pays that cost, it is the families of those who serve that carry the heaviest of loads. The writings/verses and poems in this book are images and thoughts put into words, they come from my own experiences and my evolution within, the profession of arms. Hopefully those who have served can see themselves in these writings. If you do, I thank you for taking up the profession of arms and your family for supporting you. No matter what country you call home.
