On July 21, 2020, during the height of Covid-19, my life changed forever. I sustained a traumatic brain injury at the worst possible time. It took years to discover who I was and learn to live comfortably in my own skin again. I decided to write about my brain injury and how I learned to cope with this new way of life. On July 21, 2020, during the height of Covid-19, my life changed forever. I sustained a traumatic brain injury at the worst possible time. It took years to discover who I was and learn to live comfortably in my own skin again. I decided to write about my brain injury and how I learned to cope with this new way of life. As I began to prepare to write, I reflected on just how many traumas I have survived in my nearly 50 years on this earth. I was blown away at how far I have come, so I decided to write about the many traumas that lead up to and include my brain injury. Many things no one in my life knew about until I shared them in this book. The reason I decided to be open and transparent about all I have been through is that I hope whoever needs to hear this message will receive understanding that you can heal from those wounds. Life is a precious gift, and we can learn to love and give ourselves grace - no matter when we become brave enough to start.

Autorenporträt
Rob was born and raised in southern Indiana. His journey with music commenced at the age of four when he began playing the piano by ear, establishing a lifelong passion that has shaped his identity. This love for music has been significant to him, yet he finds himself engaging with it less frequently due to the demands of daily life and the challenges he faces. Rob has been married to his wonderful wife Sheila for 26 years. Despite their desire to have children and efforts to adopt over several years, they ultimately chose to concentrate on cherishing their life together. Rob's competitive spirit has always driven him to tackle challenges head-on, inspired by figures like Buddy Valastro, the renowned Cake Boss, which led him to explore cake decorating at a master level with dreams of opening his own bakery. Unfortunately, a traumatic brain injury forced him to abandon that aspiration, as the high-stress environment and complexity of the craft became unmanageable. In the aftermath of his injury, Rob has spent three years seeking purpose for pain, dedicating his free time to a podcast called Life Rewired, The brain injury podcast that raises awareness about brain injuries, often overlooked in society. Through his podcast he talks with other brain injury survivors, caregivers, and professionals to give hope that there is life after a brain injury. Rob considers his true calling to spread joy and uplift others, while colleagues suggest he could pursue a career in comedy because of his quick wit and ability to make others laugh. He finds satisfaction in simply brightening someone's day. If Rob can bring laughter and a moment of relief to those around him, he feels that he has fulfilled his intended purpose in life.
