Hello, I'm Darcie Taylor. Although I always had a passion for writing, reading, and writing were never easy for me. As a result, I dropped out of school in grade 8. This made it challenging for me to assist my children with their schoolwork. When I turned 30, I decided to go back to school. We soon discovered that I had a learning disability in reading and writing and only had a grade 5 education. I worked hard to master the basics of learning and found the resources and support I needed to succeed. I graduated with honors and obtained a Business Administration certificate. While in school, I created a bedtime story for one of my children called "My Little Red Wagon," which my daughter loved it so much that she asked me to retell it to her the next day. I asked her to help me recreate it as I wrote it down. I handed it in as my last English assignment before graduating.Ten years later, I decided to publish this made-up story making my childhood dream come true. Becoming an Author.I sold 1,000 copies in over 40 stores across Alberta and BC, donating it to over 30 schools and libraries. I even sent copies to 8 differentcountries, including Korea, Switzerland, Belize, and a daycare in South Africa. Inspired by my storybook, I created "My Little Red Wagon Garden Kit" An educational hands-on learning garden kit that promotes and supports family literacy and learning together. I hope that my story will inspire others to pursue their dreams and learn to overcome their learning differences.
